What Does A Primary Care Doctor Do—And How Do You Find One In NYC?

An eternal medicine doctor is healthcare provider that is without beginning or end; that has always existed and shall always exist… huh? Oh, internal? An internal medicine doctor, that’s different. An internal medicine doctor is typically called an internist and they study internal medicine. Internal medicine includes all the major body organs and their systems, illness and disease diagnosis and prevention, and much more. An internal medicine doctor is one whose specialty is the entire human body which is also available in a walk in clinic.

You know those NYC medical school students: they’re real cut-ups (and we’re not just talking about the surgeons!). Well, in medical school, many refer to students studying internal medicine as someone who is studying an intellectual medical specialty. This is said because of the relationship that an internal medicine doctor will have with his patients. The relationship is proudly about more than mere test results. It is also about the personal connection with the patient, his point of view and the long intense discussions between internist and patient that shall form the basis of the doctors’ procedures. In other words an internal medicine doctor does not rely solely on extensive testing and other mechanical procedures to form his treatment plan.

In NYC, like elsewhere in the United States, people are living longer, more active lives than previous generations have. This is perfect for the internal medicine doctor, as his patients tend to be life-long ones. Common sense dictates that the longer a doctor gets to know his patient and his patient’s medical history the better the care he is able to provide. The relationship between internal medicine doctor and patient also extends beyond common office hours, which helps in this process very much. There is an unspoken agreement between them that says the internist will be available for their patients whenever they need them. It is a great way to live life: with a professional healthcare provider looking out for you whenever you need his help.

The best way to forge a relationship with an internal medicine doctor in NYC and elsewhere is to begin seeing them while you are still relatively healthy. As an internist works with adults only, there are many times during an adult lifetime that an individual will come into contact with one. Keep the relationship alive. Seeing an internal medicine doctor during the year will go a long way to preventing illnesses and diseases from proceeding from start to worse. A large part of what an internist does is to find potential health problems and nip them in the bud, so to speak. Developing a long-term relationship with an internist is the best thing one can do for their long-term good health.

This makes sense for many reasons, one being that if you work extensively with one doctor over a period of years then that doctor knows you and your health history intimately. This can only lead to better service through early diagnosis and personalized treatment. NYC and other big cities have their fair share of young serious-minded internal medicine doctors on the lookout for new patients to form such a bond with.

The four types of pink eye and which ones warrant to see a doctor

Are your eyes acting a little funky today? If one of both of your eyes looks red or pink, feels itchy or burns, is oozing a gooey or watery liquid, or is stuck shut, you most likely have pink eye.  If this is you, it may warrant visiting a walk in doctor for pink eye treatment.

Pink eye, formally known as allergy conjunctivitis, occurs when one or both eyes become extremely irritated. There are four ways this can happen: you can have a viral infection, a bacterial infection, be suffering from allergies, or, something random is inflicting your eye. Here’s a breakdown of all four along with tips on how to deal with them.

Viral Infection
Many people who suffer from conjunctivitis do so due to a viral infection that is connected to a current or recent cold. This occurs because viral pink eye is most often caused by the same virus that causes the common cold. Thus along with cold-like symptoms, common signs of viral conjunctivitis include redness, excessive watery or gooey discharge, and often a strange gritty and burning feeling in the eye. Because viral pink eye is so contagious, the second eye will typically become infected in less than two days. If you have a viral infection, rinse your eye out with water often and avoid touching your face. There is no cure for viral pink eye, so you’ll have to wait it out.

Bacterial Infection
Bacterial conjunctivitis is also very common and very contagious. The symptoms include redness and discharge, but the discharge is often thicker than viral infections. In the morning, your eye will most likely be glued shut do to the thick discharge. Also, the stuff coming out of your eye may be white, yellow or even green in color. If you have these symptoms you should visit a primary care doctor immediately for antibiotic eye drops or ointment, which clears the infection quickly.

Allergies
Many people suffer from conjunctivitis due to airborne allergens flying into the eye, such as pollen and dander. Allergy conjunctivitis often occurs seasonally, and people who suffer from it learn over time to expect it. Symptoms include redness, itchiness, and sometimes watery discharge. If over the counter allergy eye drops do not help, you should visit a physician for help.

Something Else
Sometimes you’ll have redness and discharge in your eye without having allergies or an infection. Sometimes, it something random; things get caught in the eye (chemicals, dust, hair) that cause it to be irritated. Or, people with really dry eyes may experience redness all the time. Rinsing your eye out with water and using over the counter eye drops usually clears this up. If it doesn’t clear in three days or is incredibly painful from the start, visit a doctor for help or click here for more

If you are feeling any kind of discomfort in your eye that is not healing on its own, visit Dr. Slava Fuzayloff, a primary care doctor with years of experience in pink eye treatment. He’s one of the few board certified physicians that take walk-ins, so you can get help fast. Thanks to his efficient staff, wait times rarely exceed 25 minutes for walk-ins. Dealing with side effects from blood pressure medication your medical clinic prescribed you after a screening

So after your most recent blood pressure screening your doctor diagnosed you with hypertension, or, high blood pressure.  Because hypertension is for the most part an asymptomatic disease, you probably have never experienced any discomfort or side effects from it. But to treat this symptomless disease that you never noticed you now need to start a medication treatment that will most likely bear noticeable side effects.
Try not to let this knowledge frustrate you. Many people who have high blood pressure take medication for it and do not experience life changing side effects. Your doctor at the medical clinic you visited hopefully went over the type of medication you will be on, and from there went over the possible side effects and ways to cope with them.  However, if you’re looking for more advice here are some important things you should know about side effects from medications and ways to deal with them.
Many Side Effects Lesson Over Time
Our bodies are capable of getting used to foreign substances over time. After the initial shock, our body will tend to calm down and handle the added stress this medication causes. If your prescription causes stomach problems or headache, for example, this will typically subside within two weeks.
Diet or Other Medicines Can Counter Side Effects
There are many ways to help your body deal with side effects. Increasing the amount of fiber in your diet, for example, will help your body deal with constipation caused by certain blood pressure medications. Also, many antihypertensives can cause issues with your sexual performance, but there are plenty of safe medications that will not only counter this side effect, but improve your sex life in general!
You Can Manage Your Side Effects On Your Own
Not everyone needs to change their diet or pile on more medications to deal with side effects; there are daily tricks that may help you cope with symptoms. For example, what time of day or how you take your medication can influence how it affects your daily life. If the drug causes sleepiness, take it right before you go to bed. If it causes a stomach ache, be sure to take it with plenty of food and water.
Taking Your Medication Correctly Will Lesson Your Risk of Side Effects
You can bring on side effects by not taking your medication at the same time every day, by missing doses, or by taking the wrong amount. If you maintain a predictable routine your body will have an easier time managing the drug.
Don’t Keep Your Side Effects to Yourself
Always let your internist NYC know about what side effects you are experiencing from the medication. Not only will he or she offer advice on how to cope with them, but these symptoms may be clues about something else going wrong inside of you. Many people must experiment with different medications until they find the right dosage and the right kind of therapy.
If you’re struggling with your prescription and want a trusted doctor in NYC to speak with about it, visit Dr. Slava Fuzayloff’s urgent care clinic. He has a great reputation as a caring and concerned physician. After a quick blood pressure check he patiently goes over symptoms and complications due to medications with his patients.  Log onto to his website urgent care NYC to make an appointment or call 212-696-5900 today.  No question is ever too obvious or unimportant; if you are uncomfortable with side effects and don’t know what to do, ask Dr. Fuzayloff.

Why Your Yearly Physical Exam is Important

We rely on our senses to do a lot for us. Sight is essential to see where we’re going or avoiding, smell for sniffing out what may be good or bad for the body, hearing to understand the language of everyone and everything around us, taste to distinguish between the nutritional and the poisonous, and touch to ensure our general safety. They not only protect, but also allow us to enjoy life as we feel our way around.
Given their importance, isn’t it even more crucial that we make sure they are all working properly? The answer: annual physical exam. Understandably, some of us get queasy when hearing the word “exam” and others run the other direction to anything physical, believe me when I say that your annual physical exam is fairly painless. Your internal medicine doctor will do most of the manual labor and all you have to do is follow his/her directions.
You’ll be tested for signs of vitality, from blood pressure (average is 120 over 80), heart rate (you want between 60 to 100), respiration rate (generally around 16 without lung or heart issues), and/or temperature (classic 98.6 degrees F). After that comes the exam for your general appearance. How is your heartbeat, breathing, immunity, dental work, abdomen, nerves, strength, reaction ability, balance, pulse, etc.? If you’ve done any smoking, drank alcohol in excess, or had poor diet, exercise, or sexual health, your urgent care doctor will figure it out pretty quickly. It’s for the best, so stop worrying.
Depending on your doctor, you may also need to give a blood or urine sample to test for other potential afflictions. Of course, based on your gender you’ll be tested for different diseases or illnesses as well. Males generally are examined for hernia, any STIs, prostate, or testicular issues while women may receive breast or pelvic examinations, in case of cancer or other hazards. The fact remains though, in spite of how many tests there are, you’ll be glad to be safe than sorry. Not to mention, it’ll go by a lot faster than you’re expecting and it’s only once a year.
Annual physical exams are defenders of good health, because for all you know, your body may have long been giving off signals to being unwell before you felt them. Say that one of your five senses were out of tune or no longer the same as when you were young. Why do you think people wear glasses or contacts? Brilliant as a composer Beethoven considering he was deaf, I’ll bet he wished he could’ve had a hearing aid earlier in life. Those suffering from Alzheimer’s may often be a hazard to themselves because their bodies forget how to sense hot or cold.
That aside, as soon as your sense of smell goes, your sense of taste goes along with it. Our senses interact with one another, and oftentimes as one depreciates, another follows in suit. Why take the risk? Annual physical exams will provide that sense of safety you’ve been lacking.
Stop by the office today. We’ll make sure that your annual physical exam NYC stays just that: once a year. Quick and painless, if you don’t trust us, you can find more information at urgent care center.

Forget Forbidden Fruit: Bite into the Big Apple’s Medical Office

“An apple a day keeps the doctor away,” or so goes the old proverb. The question remains though, does it work? Nutritionally, they’re definitely good for you: boron for your bone strength, quercetin for brain cell and memory retention, pectin for bad cholesterol reduction and diabetes management, quercetin and naringin flavinoids for lung cancer prevention and phytonutrients galore.
Oh and don’t forget the best part: the average apple costs you only 81 calories. So aside from the nutritional value and disease prevention, you could probably just diet with this gravity inspiring fruit.
Nonetheless, in spite of the health benefits, it must be said that it takes more than apples to keep away the doctor. It’s true that they are key to good health, but so are other fruits: bananas have potassium, blackberries carry fiber, strawberries contain both, and apricots bear beta-carotene. Doctors will tell you a varied diet is essential. (Moreover, if you have apples everyday, I think you’d get tired pretty quickly).
Still skeptical? Trees supply apples and medical clinic provide doctors, but only one can cure you once you’re injured or infected. (Guess which?) Apples can’t heal you after scraping your knee or a mosquito infecting you with yellow fever. Mind, they can help, (since you’ve got a stronger body) but only a doctor can mend you.
You can find them in medical offices across the country, whether you need heart help or minor injury attention. Forget the old adage about apples; you’ll need those medical offices to be completely healthy.
If you’re looking for the doctor, try our medical office located at 274 Madison Ave, New York, NY. No matter how many apples you eat, you’ll need to see one eventually. For more information, take a look at our website at medical doctor NYC

Searching For The Right Medical Clinic? How To Make the Correct Choice

When looking for a medical office to visit when something bad happens, the average American has many choices. We really do have loads of choices for a variety of things here in America. If you feel like eating Chinese one night, Brazilian the next, and Italian the following, there’s no shortage of eating establishments that can satiate our culinary cravings. And so it should be for other things, such as health care.

Of course there are many different options out there when searching for a medical office, but some are infinitely better than others. Let’s begin with the hospital emergency room, shall we?  Oh, we all know what a bummer it can be to visit one of these. Whether it’s the long wait or the fact that you get to witness untold amounts of people jump ahead of you because their problem is deemed more of an emergency than yours is, most people find something lacking in the experience. Worst of all, would be the fact that many people leave hospital emergency rooms sicker then when they went in.

Secondly there are high-end primary care doctor for those with loads of money. A doctor’s care should never be relegated to how much money you make, but we also understand the reality of living in this great country of ours. Money talks, this is the reality. Yet when it comes to an industry such as health care, remember that there are many well-intentioned individuals who are in it for much more than the money. It is very possible to find a world-class medical office for less than expensive prices.

A medical office should always impart a feeling of well-being and security. One should never second guess the safety and resolve of their regularly visited medical office. Lately there has been a spate of excellent walk in clinics that have popped up across America in general—and in the big cities in particular.

A walk in clinic is an excellent example of a potentially superb medical office. Many of these clinics accept a large variety of medical insurance, but also offer a pricing structure particularly sensitive to the needs of the individual who is not currently covered by insurance. Face it, no matter what the media portrays, the bulk of doctors out there have a calling and want to help people before they want to get rich.

A good medical office—or walk in clinic—will have a board-certified doctor running the show. This is the exact same type of doctor you will likely see when visiting any other type of top of the line professional medical facility. The plus of visiting a medical office such as a walk in clinic, is that the doctor gets to spend a bunch more time with their individual patients—and when that patient is you, you know the difference!

There’s nothing better than visiting a medical office where you do not feel rushed. Even when there are other patients waiting, a sign of a great health care professional is to make you feel at ease, not rushed, and given the time and respect that your visit deserves. We all deserve a medical office of this caliber.

If you happen to live in the NYC area and are looking for a medical office that can fulfill all of the above, find medical clinic. Located just blocks from Grand Central Station, this discreet and professional facility is run by a board -certified doctor who has earned the respect of a vast majority of his patients (as seen by his return/patient ratios). Simply log onto internist or call 1-212-696-5900. Great service, most insurance, affordable prices—give us a call. We’re waiting to heal you.

Busy? Urgent care clinic is the solution

Remember the old days? White coats, bright lights, latex scented, listening to each time the clock hands moved. Someone would bring you to the doctor’s office for a checkup and afterwards you would be rewarded with a lollipop for your patience. That was the end of it. Nowadays it’s hard enough to just schedule an appointment. With all the things you have to do, why not try a walk in clinic?
Ever feel like childhood was so much easier? More space, more freedom, and more time. As adults, our schedules are crammed: wake up, shower, make breakfast, feed the dog, dress for work, take the kids to school, commute to work, commute to home, pick up the kids, buy groceries, make dinner, pack lunch, walk the dog, wash the dishes, take out the garbage, tuck in the kids, back to bed.
Add on the weekly laundry, house cleaning, phone calls, family visits, random friend hangouts, work emergencies, etc. and you’re officially booked. Now try to schedule in your next medical doctor’s appointment. Are you told that you need to wait a week, two, three, or even a month later? And once you’re there, how much more time do you need to wait to be seen?
Forget scheduling and remember leisure! Time is precious as it is and should not be wasted. As Doug Larson puts it, “For disappearing acts, it's hard to beat what happens to the eight hours supposedly left after eight of sleep and eight of work.”  Oftentimes, we work ourselves half to death trying to fit everything into the week and then end up sick for stressing about it. Yet there’s still no time for break and we chug down all the medicine we can find in the cold aisle. Thoughts are blurred, focus lost, and the temperature is rising. Before you know it, you can get into an accident more serious than the common cold.
Urgent care center are essential for those sudden scrapes, scratches, or burns, and can even offer you something to take care of that cold faster. Availability and convenience are written into the definition and appointments can be scheduled on the same day with immediate care. No waiting for the secretary to schedule you two weeks later and no waiting at the ER for “immediate help” that comes two hours later.
In the past as kids, we didn’t have responsibilities. Everything was set up for us and all we had to do was follow what we were told. And for that we got a lollipop for a reward. As adults, we need to plan everything. Even our free time is taken up planning for our plans. By then, you know your schedule is definitely overloaded. Don’t let that carry through to your health as well.
Walk in clinics will save you both money and time, with the added bonus of friendly service. For those lighter injuries, burns, or illnesses, you can get that immediate care you’re desperate for without those frustrating delays.
So if you’re in Manhattan and feeling burdened down by your schedule, drop by Midtown Medical Group and find an internal medicine doctor, located at 274 Madison Avenue. Too busy to physically come? Take a look at our website NYC walk-in clinic for more information to schedule your appointment at our walk-in clinic today.
