Elevated Blood Pressure—Two Good Reasons for the Testing

High blood pressure—you’ve probably heard it mentioned at the doctor’s office or on television, but did you know you could be at risk? No matter your age or background, you could be susceptible; even if you’re otherwise healthy and not be exhibiting any symptoms, you could still have high blood pressure, also known as hypertension.  The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute asserts that as many as 1 in 3 Americans struggle with high blood pressure, but some don’t pay as much attention to it as they should because they feel fine.  Even if you are feeling symptom free, checking for high blood pressure is a key component of staying healthy now and in the future.

One important reason to get screened for hypertension is because the process is a simple way to gain important information about your health.  Blood pressure screenings are inexpensive, painless, and take just a few minutes.  This noninvasive procedure is much more pleasant and faster than blood work or ultrasounds, and offers a key window into a person’s heart and lung health.  Blood pressure is traditionally measured with the use of a rubber cuff that squeezes the upper arm, and a stethoscope through which a doctor listens to the speed of the patient’s heartbeat. However, increasingly, automated machines that perform this process are being used in doctor’s office, hospitals, and even screening centers inside drug stores and doctor’s office.  It’s so easy, there’s no excuse not to do it!

Another important reason routine blood pressure screenings are important is that they serve as an early detection method for a variety of dangerous diseases.  Some people with hypertension don’t initially feel symptoms, and even people who are otherwise healthy and don’t have other risk factors for high blood pressure (like a high-sodium diet or weight problems) may still be at risk of having high blood pressure because of a genetic predisposition or high-stress lifestyle.  Whatever the cause, high blood pressure increases stress on the heart and can eventually lead to heart attack, congestive heart failure, stroke, kidney damage, vision and memory loss, and angina.  High blood pressure is also often an indicator of diabetes, and it is suggested that people with diabetes aim for a target blood pressure even lower than average, to reduce the heart’s amount of work and the risk for increased complications.   According to the American Heart Association, the classification for hypertension in adults is a systolic blood pressure of 140 mmHg or higher.

Even if you feel healthy and don’t think you have blood pressure screening, you should still be screened; high blood pressure is often referred to as “the silent killer” because of its lack of symptoms until it causes serious, often irreversible problems.  And the earlier you know about high blood pressure, the quicker you can take steps to reverse the damage and prevent heart disease in your future. Your doctor can help you lower high blood pressure in a variety of ways, including a change of diet, quitting smoking and decreasing alcohol intake, increasing exercise and weight loss, stress reduction, and prescription medication.

Experts recommend that you have your high blood pressure testing NYC at least every two years, or more often if it’s too high or you have other risk factors for heart disease.  If you’re in the New York City area, the Walk-in Clinic of New York is the perfect place to get a high blood pressure screening. Walk in clinic is affordable and convenient, with same-day, evening and weekend appointments available, and you can have your blood pressure screened and talk with a board certified doctor NYC about ways to reduce your risk of high blood pressure. You ignore, We Cure. Doctors at Your Local Doctors office

Fall is the season of change. Leaves turn from green into the autumnal reds and golden hues, temperatures fall rapidly bringing out the new fashion trends, and cold culinary delights are eaten less frequently in favor of the warm ones. People change as well.
For those going through the education system, fall means the start of a new school year. Those in America’s workforce see the end of sunny vacation time as the summer eclipses. And of course, what’s fall without the seasonal cold and/or flu?
We often prep for fall long before it begins, bringing out the scarves and jackets, drinking hot teas and soups, and converting our mindsets to the long drive into winter. We get our influenza vaccinations (in the past years for flu, swine, etc.) and aim to stay as warm as possible. At the end of the day though, even with vaccinations, there’s no guarantee you won’t be infected.
You may be heavily protected from diseases like tuberculosis or typhoid, but for the common cold (that’s not that common), there aren’t any real preventative measures. You could try to wash your hands constantly, take in vitamin C like a junkie and avoid sick people like they’re carrying the plague. Yet with over 200 types of colds out there, you’re not likely to bypass them all.
This is why doctors exist. Autumn is famous for bringing on the onslaught of running noses, sore throats, and resounding coughs. Luckily for us nowadays, we don’t need to die through it and resurrect two weeks later.
A lot of the time sick people ignore the symptoms claiming that they want to recover naturally, or they don’t have time to see the internist, or it’s too costly to heal otherwise. What they don’t realize though is that you can waste time, energy, and money trying to recuperate using that method. You might even worsen or extend your condition like that, especially if you don’t give your body enough rest.
Studies have shown that while vitamin C is good before a cold, it’s useless once you’re infected. (You can stop the OJ craze now.) Instead of spending your time fighting off illnesses, why not let influenza vaccination do it for you?
Doctor’s offices offer certified doctors who know what to give you (as opposed to you randomly perusing through aisle 13) and can do it at your convenience. You’ll still have your bank account afterwards and no doubt you’ll be able to get on with your life faster than you would have without going into a doctor’s office. No waiting, no crazy charges, and a faster recovery rate than “natural healing”. Why wouldn’t you take the offer?
Change isn’t always the easiest to adjust to, but more than not, it can be for the better. You can start changing your sick habits this fall. Go along with the trend: changing leaves, changing temperatures, changing diets and clothing.
You don’t have to bother with the pain and stress of not mending fast enough. You just have to head into a walk in clinic in NYC and you’ll be set on to enjoy the rest of the season (sickness-free). If you need immediate help, our doctors office is located at 274 Madison Ave, Suite 304, New York, NY, awaiting patients who want to recover. If you’d like more information, we also have a website at doctor NYC.

Hurting Inside? Get your UTI treatment at a medical clinic

They say that what hurts on the outside doesn’t hurt as much as what’s on the inside. It’s temporary, fleeting, and for the most part, can be easily mended. On the inside though, you can’t always see what’s going on immediately. There may be deep scars, cuts, hurts buried beneath. So what happens when the outside of your insides are in pain?
When there’s organ damage, it’s a lot more serious than a small scratch or scrape. For bladder infections, you’ll find inflammation of the bladder, with symptoms like pain in the lower pelvis area, around your lower back, above the pubic bone, on your abdomen, or during urination (you may see blood, colored urine, or it may smelly strongly). You’ll be lethargic, feeling weak, or even feverish. Not a relaxing time to be sure.
So what do you do about it? Definitely don’t leave it be. You’ll find the infection may develop into something more dangerous, like permanent kidney damage. Instead, to get your bladder infection treated, try heading over to a nearby doctor’s office.
Before you get UTI treatment NYC, you’ll need to be diagnosed. There are a number of different bladder infections, all with different symptoms and different bacteria to combat. Thus, it’s important to take a urinalysis test.
If you’d like it done quickly, a medical clinic is the easiest. No waiting in long lines behind other contagiously sick people and friendly service to boot. Stop hurting on the inside and start healing your outsides. I guarantee you won’t regret it.
If you’re by Grand Central and you need immediate UTI treatment, stop by our medical clinic at 274 Madison Ave. Suite 304. Otherwise if you’d like more information or to book your appointment online, take a look at doctor NYC

Heroes of the World Start at a Medical Clinic

As children we often admired the cartoon superheroes that always strive for justice and save the world just in time. As we grow up and reality hits full frontal, we often find that those fantasies fade and the heroes disappear. There’s no Superman with beyond human strength or the ability to fly nor Batman with advanced technology and conviction about crime. The world seems like a darker place with that in mind.
Yet while there are no superheroes with amazing powers to turn invisible or read minds, reality does offer heroes to take their place. Recall the soldiers who risk their lives constantly to fight wars and keep the country safe, or the firemen who rush to the aid of civilians surrounded by engulfing flames. The policemen are the ones who are caught in the middle of crime, with that strong belief in fairness, abiding the law, and keeping the public protected.
Yes, they are the ones you need applaud and appreciate. They are the ones who should receive due credit for their courage, boldness, and sacrifices. Before that though, we must offer our gratitude to yet another bunch of heroes: the doctor NYC.
They are the ones slaving away at medical clinics to ensure your health and well being. They are the ones who, everyday even, rescue lives on the brink of failing. They are the people who risk their lives to disease and illness so that yours may not be. Think about it: have you done your doctor justice?
Want to thank a doctor? Head over to our medical clinic located right outside of Grand Central Station. Or if you’d like learn more about our facility visit the website at urgent care NYC.

In and Out: That’s Our Urgent Care Clinic Promise

That endless ticking. Fervent tapping resounds against the chair. Awkward silence and strained conversations. Impatient eyes shift across the room. Sheets of papers shuffle between pen clicks and signatures. You shift uncomfortably in the seat to prevent that leg numbing pain.
Face it: if this is the doctor’s office every time you go, it’s no wonder that you rarely go. As soon as you enter, you’re pummeled with sheets about your family health history and contracts. Even if you arrive on time for your appointment, there’s still five others waiting ahead of you (all the while you’re sitting there in pain). And let’s not forget how awkward it can be even just making eye contact with anyone there. You can’t really avoid them once you step inside.
Not to worry though: there is a solution! Head over to a doctor NYC. Fast, friendly, convenient, walk-in (no appointments needed), and lower cost than an ER, what’s not to love about it?
Urgent care clinics deal with anything from your minor burns to wart treatment to deer tick bites to HPV treatment. No they don’t cater to your major accidents like broken bones, but they still offer the same quality service and faster speed than an ER.
Just imagine this: immediate service as soon as you walk in. No awkward silence, no long waiting lines, no annoying tapping or foot shaking, no clock ticking in a silent room. Just in and out you go. Sound tempting? Urgent clinics will do it for you.
If you’re in need of one right now, stop by 274 Madison Ave, Suite 304. Or if you’d like to find out more for those just in case emergencies, check out urgent care clinic.
